ABSTRACT:
The present study examines the military museum heritage as a source for historical and museographical research related to the Second World War. The interdisciplinary character of the approach is justified by the specific nature of museum work, in which the museographer, being in direct contact with the vestiges of the past, studies them simultaneously from both historical and documentary-museographical perspectives. The paper also analyzes the legislative and normative framework regulating research activities in museums. In addition, it presents the most representative objects from the period of the war preserved in the collection of the Military Museum and offers recommendations for filling in the analytical individual record sheets corresponding to categories of military museum heritage pieces once included in the equipment of the Soviet, German, and Romanian armies.
REZUMAT:
Studiul de față examinează patrimoniul militar muzeal ca sursă de cercetare istorică și muzeografică privind cel de-al Doilea Război Mondial. Caracterul interdisciplinar al demersului este justificat de specificul muncii muzeografului, aflat în contact direct cu vestigiile trecutului, pe care le studiază simultan din perspectivă istorică și documentar-muzeografică. Este analizat cadrul legislativ și normativ ce reglementează activitatea de cercetare din muzee. De asemenea, sunt prezentate cele mai reprezentative piese din perioada războiului aflate în patrimoniul Muzeului Militar și sunt formulate recomandări pentru completarea fișelor analitice de evidență individuală aferente categoriilor de piese din patrimoniul militar muzeal aflate în dotarea armatelor sovietică, germană și română.
Veronica Melinte, museologist, Military Museum Department of the Agency for Military Science and Memory. She holds a Master’s degree in Humanities, specializing in State and Society from a Historical Perspective (forms of government, national security and international relations) form the Faculty of History and Philosophy at Moldova State University. From 1997 to 2025, she has worked as a university lecturer at State Pedagogical University “Ion Creangă,” Faculty of History, teaching courses in Culturology, Cultural Anthropology, and Museology. Her areas of professional interest include the history of administrative institutions, culturology, and museology.
